Reimagining Concrete Design: Vertico at Dutch Design Week 2019

In 2019, Vertico took center stage at Dutch Design Week, presenting a project that blended creativity with precision. As Europe’s largest design event, Dutch Design Week provided the perfect platform to demonstrate how 3D concrete printing is transforming modern design and architecture.

Our latest project showcased the aesthetic and architectural possibilities of 3D concrete printing through a striking installation of three concrete columns. Each column stood 3 meters tall, weighed 300 kilograms, and embodied the seamless blend of form and function that 3D printing enables.

Project Highlights:

  • Revolutionizing Form: These columns exemplified Vertico’s ability to create intricate and flowing shapes, proving that concrete is not just a structural material but also a medium for artistic expression.
  • Sustainable Practices: By eliminating traditional molds, the project significantly reduced waste, aligning with Vertico’s commitment to responsible design and innovation.
  • Collaboration and Expertise: This installation was the result of a collaborative effort with the Eindhoven University of Technology’s Department of Architecture. Special thanks to Alessia Biffi, Prof. Ir. Juliette Bekkering, Arch. Avb. Sjef de Hoof, Ir. Barbara Kuit, and Zeeshan Yunus Ahmed for their invaluable contributions.

Visitors were encouraged to explore the installation up close, sparking engaging discussions about how technology-driven creativity can reshape the built environment.

This project wasn’t just about showcasing our technology—it was about inspiring a new way of thinking about materials, design, and sustainability. By participating in Dutch Design Week 2019, Vertico reinforced its mission to push boundaries and redefine what’s possible in construction and architecture.
